Front page news over here in the UK and more probably so in the US, but Lindsay Lohan has officially started her jail sentence in an LA jail. The sentence was for an original 90 days but she is now only to serve 14 days and the rest will be completed on official rehab. Her family including father Michael, mother Dina and sister Ali were at the court house to see Lindsay Lohan take the walk of shame and be led from the courthouse via handcuffs to serve her jail sentence. New billed “pout” aside, the section that Lindsay will be staying in due to her celebrity status is a single cell in the higher security side of the prison which in theory means she will have less contact with her prison inmates which reduces the chance of any “encounters” with “the crowd” and “gangs” who are in waiting for her to arrive and can’t wait to “get their hands on her”.
That’s the good news, the not so good news is she is in a section that has murderers, drug dealers and prostitutes, in short those that are serving longer terms for more serious crimes. She will come into contact with some of these inmates eventually and the experience for Lindsay is being billed by virtually all the media is that it will not be a pleasant one with some media saying they are out to see who is the first one to make her cry………..that’s for starters. If you have watched Shawshank Redemption then you will have a good idea of what that means! The first few days as with anything in life will be the worst!
Actress Lindsay Lohan s father Michael Lohan and his girlfriend arrived at the Beverly Hills Court house on July 20, 2010 moments before his daughter arrived with her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley to face the crowd of media and fans waiting for her to be sentenced to do jail time. This morning Judge Marsha Revel ordered Lohan to jail and said there would be no electronic monitoring or house arrest that could reduce her 90-day sentence. Judge Marsha Revel had the cameras turned off when it came time to cuffing Lindsay and taking her off to her new temporary home. Outside the court house fans screamed and protested Lindsay s freedom. Looking at the prison mug shot (top) she is looking defiantly confident with that “i’m a star things will work out fine for me” sort of look. The reality may not be as pleasant as that, with grim prison food, 23 hours in a small cell with bed toilet and sink and that’s it and 1 hour out for exercise. 3 showers a week is the maximum allowed. 1 blanket I’ve heard is all you’re allowed. The list goes on, but you get the picture. It would be very interesting in a morbid sort of way to see the post prison sentence mug shot AFTER she has finished her time in “stir”.
Now here’s the strange thing. LiLo is due to appear in a film about the life and times of porn star Linda Lovelace in a film called “Inferno” which will feature her in full frontal nudity. This film has been put on hold and the film co have decided to suspend everything until this storm blows over…….in short they are backing her up. Also there’s some talk about books or some sort of TV program deal possibilities after this time inside. There’s media opportunities in this, tasteless ones for sure but they are there none the less.
Personally think they have gone light on LiLo here to give her a taster of what it’s like inside, if she re-offends again then it will be months or years instead of a couple of weeks. She’ll have plenty of time to think about her life whilst staring at her toilet and washbasin and four walls………………that’s a certainty!
